Thermostat Control Unit and Water Heater
A thermostat control unit is installed in each lavatory below the wash basin and has connections to the water faucet and the water heater. The water heater is connected to the hot water line of the thermostat control unit.
The thermostat control unit consists of: an ON/OFF switch, a D/C indicator, an A/C indicator, and a CLEAN pushbutton (which deactivates the water faucet for 60 seconds) .
The water heater consists of: an ON/OFF switch, and an A/C indicator .
Drain Valve Assembly
A drain valve assembly is installed under the washbasin in each lavatory, which drains wastewater from the washbasin through the wastewater line to the drain mast, and also prevents the loss of air pressure through the drain mast in case of a malfunction .
The drain valve assembly is permanently in open position and can be closed with a plug .
Open Position
Closed Position
Water Shutoff Valve
All lavatories are equipped with one manual water shutoff valve (as shown above right), which is located under the washbasin .
Exception : There are two manual water shutoff valves in the PRM lavatories, one for the washbasin and one for the toilet .
Trash Compactor
Trash compactors are available in all lavatories . The trash compactors are made of plastic material with a hand-operated handle to compact trash (location and operation see figures below) .
